Synopsis

Keywords: Fetal, Fetal, Patient comfort

Motivation: Fetal MRI, while not a primary screening tool, is crucial for assessing complex abnormalities. Conventional coils can hinder patient comfort due to their rigidity.

Goal(s): This study aimed to compare the image quality and patient comfort between the AIR™ Coil and conventional coils during fetal MRI at 1.5 T.

Approach: A prospective study with 32 patients was conducted, alternating coil use and assessing comfort through surveys and image quality through SNR and CNR measurements.

Results: The AIR Coil was preferred for comfort by 26 patients, with no significant differences in SNR and CNR, suggesting enhanced comfort without compromising image quality.

Impact: The introduction of the AIR™ Coil for fetal MRI significantly enhances patient comfort without compromising image quality, making it a valuable advancement in prenatal imaging that can improve the overall experience for pregnant women undergoing MRI procedures.
