Motivation: Substantial differences in individual responses to caffeine necessitate a thorough investigation of its physiological and cognitive effects.
Goal(s): Investigating the influence of caffeine on brain and physiological functioning, with particular emphasis on its effects on cognitive health and autonomic responses.
Approach: Examining the immediate effects of caffeine intake by EEG-fMRI and physiology.
Results: We highlight the impact of caffeine on cognitive function by showing that it correlates with autonomic signals and changes in brain activity following ingestion.
Impact: The research findings will serve to improve our comprehension of stimulants and impact public guidelines about coffee consumption, in addition to facilitating the development of personal recommendations to increase mental performance and well-being.
