Keywords: Safety, Low-Field MRI
Motivation: Understanding projectile and crush risks in point-of-care MRI.
Goal(s): To determine quantitative and qualitative data in relation to risks associated with loose ferromagnetic objects in proximity to a point-of-care MRI system.
Approach: Physical measurements, simulation and calculations of forces on ferromagnetic objects in a static magnetic stray field.
Results: Measured and simulated force data appear to match. Projectile zone, maximum forces and kinetic energies are established.
Impact: This work establishes a method to measure and simulate forces to quantitatively and qualitatively understand the risks of loose ferromagnetic objects near point-of-care MRI systems. This should help operators manage risk and optimize working procedures with point-of-care MRI systems.
How to access this content:
For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.
After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.
After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
