Keywords: Heart Failure, Cardiovascular
Motivation: The pathogenesis of HFpEF and the risk factors affecting its prognosis remain poorly understood.
Goal(s): Exploring the value of EAT and left atrial strain in predicting heart failure and adverse prognosis in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
Approach: The epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), the three LA phasic strains, as well as the left ventricular longitudinal, radial, and circumferential strains were calculated with CVI42.
Results: The three LA strains are indicators for evaluating adverse prognosis in patients with HFpEF. EAT and global longitudinal strain are indicators for predicting heart failure; however, they did not demonstrate an advantage in predicting adverse prognosis.
Impact: Our research elucidates that increased EAT thickness in patients with HFpEF suggests o left ventricular dysfunction, while early abnormalities in LA function can serve as a predictor of adverse prognosis.
