The application of Multi-parametric Z-spectral CEST-MRI in bone tumors

Synopsis

Motivation: There is very little about the research of chemical exchange saturation transfer-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(CEST-MRI).

Goal(s): This Study aims to noninvasively characterize the molecular metabolism in bone tumors using Z-spectrum metrics from CEST-MRI.

Approach: Z-spectrum data were collected at saturation power(B1) values of 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5μT from 50 patients. The amplitude and integral conversion values were analyzed for amide proton transfer(APT), creatine(Cr), magnetization transfer ratio(MTR), nuclear overhuaser effect(NOE) and water parameters.

Results: Bone tumor showed increased amplitude values for APT, Cr, MTR and NOE as well as increased integral conversion amplitude values APT, Cr, MTR, NOE and water.

Impact: Multi-parametric Z-spectral CEST-MRI enables noninvasively detection molecular metabolic changes in bone tumors, providing valuable biomarkers for early diagnosis, monitoring tumor progression, and assessing treatment responses, ultimately aiding in personalized therapy and improving clinical outcomes.
