CEST and Z-spectrum analysis proton (ZAP) in the liver

Synopsis

Motivation: Early detection of molecular abnormalities in the liver enhances diagnosis and treatment. Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer (CEST) and Z-spectrum Analysis Protons (ZAP) offer high-precision analysis of abdominal organs.

Goal(s): This study aims to identify molecular abnormalities in the liver by combining CEST and ZAP to detect resonant peaks linked to tissue-specific characteristics.

Approach: CEST and ZAP spectrum of the liver is analyzed and compared a beta Thalassemia patient with healthy subjects.

Results: There were differences in the ZAP metrics and presence of CEST protons between patient and healthy subjects. The segmented areas in ZAP differences corresponded to fat liver and iron deposition.

Impact: This study demonstrates the potential of multiparametric CEST and ZAP imaging that non-invasively identifed molecular abnormalities in the liver, providing critical insights into iron and fat deposition, which could enhance the diagnosis and management of liver diseases.
