Synopsis

Keywords: Tumors (Pre-Treatment), Neuroscience, multiple parametric synthetic sequence, MTP, brain metastases, high-grade gliomas

Motivation: To explore the value of T1 and T2* value in peritumoral edema from MTP synthetic sequence in the differential diagnosis of high-grade gliomas and metastases.

Goal(s): This study aimed to determine whether the quantitative T1 and T2* value of peritumoral edema could be used to distinguish gliomas from metastases.

Approach: 13 cases of gliomas and 11 cases of metastases were scanned by conventional MRI and MTP synthetic sequence. The T1 and T2* values were measured and compared in the range of peritumoral edema 5mm.

Results: The T1 and T2 * values of peritumoral edema area around gliomas are lower than those of metastases.

Impact: Based on MTP, multiple parameters that reflect the characteristics of brain tumor tissue can be obtained in a short period of time. The difference in tumor composition between gliomas and metastases leads to differences in T1 and T2 * values.
