Motivation: Whether there is a difference in the effects of long-term risperidone monotherapy versus risperidone combined with clozapine on functional brain activity in patients with chronic schizophrenia is unclear.
Goal(s): To compare differences in ALFF between risperidone monotherapy and the combination of risperidone and clozapine in patients with chronic schizophrenia.
Approach: Differences in ALFF between the risperidone-treated group, the risperidone combined with clozapine-treated group, and the normal control group were compared by ANCOVA.
Results: ALFF was reduced in the right caudate nucleus in the combined treatment group compared to the risperidone-treated group.
Impact: Differences in functional brain activity in the right caudate nucleus of chronic schizophrenic patients treated with different antipsychotic drugs.
