Synopsis

Keywords:

Motivation: The motivation was to improve fat signal suppression in Diffusion-weighted Whole Body Imaging with Background Body Signal Suppression (DWIBS) in off-center condition.

Goal(s): The specific goals were to evaluate the fat suppression effect of the Principle of Selective Excitation Technique (PROSET) in combination with STIR DWI (PROSET-DWIBS) compared to conventional methods.

Approach: The left knee of healthy volunteers was scanned using PROSET-DWIBS, STIR-DWI, and SPAIR-DWI, with an off-center of 11cm in the x-axis direction.

Results: Concerning Olefin, PROSET-DWIBS achieved a comparable level of fat suppression to STIR-DWI, in contrast to SPAIR-DWI. For Methylene, PROSET-DWIBS showed superior fat suppression compared to STIR-DWI.

Impact: By reducing chemical shift artifacts caused by Methylene, PROSET-DWIBS has the potential to improve diagnostic clarity.
