Synopsis

Motivation: Patients with prosthetic hips pose unique challenges in interventional MRI due to susceptibility artifact, especially in those seeking MR-guided prostate biopsy.

Goal(s): Low-field MRI has been no stranger to decades of technological advancements and is a viable option for consideration in populations with these specific (but growing) needs.

Approach: Use advanced product features and applications on low-field magnets to improve iMRI quality.

Results: In-bore MR-guided prostate biopsy and other iMRI applications are feasible at low-field MR through experience in clinical use.

Impact: Low-field MR-guided biopsy is an effective method for patients with unique challenges, especially those with implanted hip arthroplasty. Advancements in MR applications over the years make possible a creative and interesting means to improve the practice.
