Synopsis

Motivation: Validation using phantoms is necessary for recommended settings of each sequence. However, currently available phantoms for breast MRI examinations are expensive and challenging to use.

Goal(s): We investigated whether banana-fruits and lard the new phantom is able to use for determination of the parameters for breast MRI examinations.

Approach: We created the new phantom using bananas simulating mammary gland and lard simulating fatty tissue, and Beast and phantom measured the T1,T2,T2* of values and CNR for breast and phantom.

Results: No significant differences were found between T1,T2,T2* values and CNR obtained from banana and patient mammary glands.

Impact: We developed the new phantom using banana-fruits simulating mammary tissue in breast MRI examinations.
