Synopsis

Keywords:

Motivation: MRI access and expertise vary globally and practice guidelines are largely developed by high-income countries. There is a knowledge gap on MRI sequence utilization for glioma studies in resource-constrained settings, hindering context-specific guideline development, potentially compromising effective glioma management.

Goal(s): Determine the extent to which radiographers adhere to established guidelines for glioma MRI protocols, identify potential knowledge gap in a resource-constrained setting.

Approach: Comprehensive retrospective study to evaluate MRI sequences used to scan patients referred for glioma evaluation at three high-volume diagnostic centers in Lagos, Nigeria.

Results: Most frequently used MRI sequences were T1WI, T2WI, Flair and sagittal T2WI, sequences were not consistent

Impact: Findings will provide a basis for further research on brain glioma diagnosis and provide evidence-based information to guide the development of suitable guidelines for MRI protocols in the diagnosis and management of glioma in resource-constrained settings.
