Infusion of manganese two minutes after osmotic disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) resulted in areas of signal enhancement closely correlated with areas of Evans Blue histological staining. For MEMRI experiments using applied neuronal stimulus to generate T1-contrast, this infusion protocol may obscure intended results. This infusion protocol may, however, be a useful alternative for imaging experimental BBB disruption.
