Brain Metabolism Under Different Anesthesia Using Hyperpolarized [1-13C]-Pyruvate

The low sensitivity of 13C spectroscopy can be enhanced using hyperpolarization techniques such as dynamic nuclear polarization. Detection of [1-13C]pyruvate and its metabolic products including bicarbonate have been reported in the brain.
