Amino functionalized silica coated gadolinium nanoparticle (Gd@SiO 2 -NH 2 ) based perfectly soluble potential theranostic agents formulated as Gd@SiO 2 -NHCO-DO3A-BTA. The preparation initially requires the formation of Gd@SiO 2 -NH 2 through self-condensation on the surface of GdNPs in DEG to react with TEOS and APTES. In order to increase solubility as well as used by theranostic agents, Gd@SiO 2 -NH 2 was further conjugated with DO3A-benzothiazole to give the desired product. Gd@SiO 2 -NHCO-DO3A-BTA reveals high MR relaxivity ( R 1 = 8.74 mM -1 s -1 ) and in vitro and in vivo monitoring provides high uptake affinity to tumor. Therefore, this system may be put into a new family of multifunctional theranostic CAs.
