Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer MR Imaging of Parkinsons Disease at 3 Tesla This present study was the first to evaluate PD patients with CEST imaging. Our results clearly show that the non-invasive CEST MRI methodology generated unique image contrasts that are based on the changes in cytoplasmic proteins and peptides, as well as the neuronal loss in several specific brain regions in PD patients. The CEST MRI signals show great potential as imaging biomarkers that could detect disease and predict the progression.
