We present a design for a simply constructed, mechanically robust, and low cost MRI coil design that is suitable for routine hyperpolarized 129 Xe lung imaging in both adults and pediatric subjects. To facilitate the clinical implementation of this coil design an electromagnetic model was created to evaluate B1+ homogeneity and SAR values.
