Normally, DCE-MRI estimates vascular parameters, K trans and v p . However, shutter-speed analysis allows determination of cellular, metabolic parameters, k io and v i . The k io quantity tracks cell membrane Na + ,K + -ATPase activity. Exemplified with human and murine breast cancers, we show that these enable the discrimination of cytotoxic and targeted therapies in their early actions.
