Synopsis

Keywords: Traumatic Brain Injury, White Matter

Motivation: This research addresses the need for accurate mTBI diagnostics by combining diffusion MRI and blood biomarkers, aiming to improve early detection and enable targeted interventions to support recovery in high-risk patients.

Goal(s): This study aims to assess relationships between dMRI metrics and blood-based white matter biomarkers in a diverse cohort, evaluate their predictive capacity for PPCS development, and examine the role of psychological resilience in influencing these biomarkers and recovery outcomes.

Approach: Longitudinal cohort study with participants undergoing dMRI, blood biomarker analysis, and resilience assessment. Statistical models will evaluate biomarker predictive power and resilience effects on white matter damage and PPCS progression.

Impact: Establishing a relationship between dMRI metrics and blood-based biomarkers in a real-world mTBI population could enhance understanding of white matter pathophysiology and support prognostic clinical tool development. Insights into resilience may enable early identification of high-risk patients needing targeted intervention.
