Synopsis

Keywords: Neurotransmission, Brain, Choroid Plexus Volume, Cognitive Impairment, High-density Lipoprotein, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Motivation: Assessing choroid plexus volume (CPV) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is valuable for detecting early indicators of cognitive decline and understanding how metabolic factors affect brain health, supporting timely intervention for those at risk.

Goal(s): To determine the relationship between CPV and cognitive function in T2DM patients versus healthy individuals, while also assessing the impact of metabolic markers like high-density lipoprotein (HDL) on CPV.

Approach: A prospective cohort study

Results: As HDL levels decrease, choroid plexus volume increases, potentially impairing normal executive function and information processing speed.

Impact: This study highlights the essential role of HDL in regulating choroid plexus volume and cognitive function, offering new avenues for future research.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
