Synopsis

Keywords: Other Neurodegeneration, Neurodegeneration

Motivation: Choroid plexus (CP) enlargement is linked to impaired protein clearance in neurodegenerative disorders, but its role in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) remains unclear.

Goal(s): To investigate CP volume changes and their relationship with tau deposition in PSP.

Approach: A total of 204 participants (92 PSP, 78 PD, 34 HC) underwent MRI; 63 PSP patients also had 18F-Florzolotau PET. CP volumes were compared among groups, and their association with PET-derived tau standardized uptake value ratios (SUVRs) was assessed.

Results: PSP patients had larger CP volumes compared to PD and HC groups. In PSP, CP volume was positively correlated with mean SUVRs in the putamen.

Impact: CP volume expansion may serve as a promising imaging biomarker of tau accumulation in PSP patients and could potentially be used to differentiate PSP from PD.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
