Synopsis

Keywords: Gradients, Gradients, gradient system transfer function, mechanical resonance

Motivation: While gradient system transfer functions (GSTF) is an effective method for system characterization and compensation of hardware imperfection, the interpretation of the frequency peaks of GSTF as mechanical resonance lacks solid proof.

Goal(s): Our goal was to provide conclusive evidence to verify the relationship between the frequency peaks of GSTF and mechanical resonance.

Approach: We measured the GSTF and mechanical resonance on the same MRI system and compared the resonance frequency points.

Results: The results indicate a good correspondence between the frequency peaks of GSTF and mechanical resonance.

Impact: Our study offers solid evidence for explaining the frequency peaks of GSTF, which is beneficial for avoiding the resonance frequency points by frequency lockout methods when setting scanning parameters.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
