Synopsis

Keywords: Myocardium, Cardiovascular

Motivation: Circadian change of cardiovascular function may present and affect the reliability of cardiac MR examination results.

Goal(s): This study aims to evaluate the circadian change of cardiovascular function in volunteers using CMR.

Approach: 78 volunteers were scheduled to receive three CMR scans at 7:00, 15:00, and 23:00 in one day. Biventricular function and myocardial tissue level characteristics were compared.

Results: Overall, there were circadian changes of T2 mapping, LVEF, RVEF, LVCI, and RVCI, but no circadian change of T1 mapping was observed.

Impact: The circadian change of cardiovascular function could lead to the potential mis-interpretation of patients' cardiovascular function, understanding and adjusting CMR results according to examination time could be beneficial for clinicians.
