Synopsis

Keywords: fMRI Analysis, Kidney, Multiparametric MRI

Motivation: Multiparameter MR metrics are sensitive to fluid transport in the kidney induced by diuretic challenges [1]. However, widely accepted reference values remain limited, and the impact of hydration status on specific MRI parameters is not yet fully understood.

Goal(s): Evaluation of functional MRI parameters of the kidneys throughout the day in the healthy renal cortex and medulla before and after water intake.

Approach: Ten volunteers underwent two MRI examinations on the same day. The multiparametric MRI protocol includes ASL, IVIM, BOLD, MT, T1 and T2 mapping.

Results: Changes observed in certain MRI parameters may reflect parenchymal alterations in healthy kidneys after hydration.

Impact: Our study showed that the multiparametric functional MRI of the kidneys can help evaluate the renal function depending on its hydration status and may play an important role in kidney imaging.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
