Synopsis

Keywords: fMRI Analysis, Perfusion

Motivation: Precise measurement of liver blood flow is critical for accurately diagnosing liver diseases.

Goal(s): To validate the short-term repeatability of arterial spin labeling magnetic resonance imaging (ASL MRI) for liver perfusion assessment via the hepatic artery and portal vein.

Approach: Twelve participants were consecutively scanned three times on a 3T MRI system. Liver blood flow measurement consistency was analyzed to determine repeatability of ASL MRI.

Results: ASL MRI demonstrated high consistency and repeatability for measuring liver blood flow via the hepatic artery and portal vein. This noninvasive technique shows promise as a reliable tool for diagnosing liver diseases.

Impact: By demonstrating high consistency and low variability in short-term liver blood flow measurements, ASL MRI emerges as a reliable and promising noninvasive tool for diagnosing liver disease.
