Motivation: Early identification of brain changes in T2DM patients is crucial for timely cognitive intervention and prevention of further decline.
Goal(s): To establish an effective imaging approach for discovering early T2DM-driven cognitive impairment.
Approach: Static and dynamic brain function metrics, derived from rs-fMRI, were compared between the T2DM patients and healthy controls. MoCA scores were assessed for cognitive impact.
Results: Significant alterations in both static and dynamic brain activity patterns were observed in T2DM, primarily within regions known for cognitive processing, including the default mode and executive control networks.
Impact: The study provided insights into both static and dynamic brain function patterns in T2DM, highlighting specific regions where functional impairments coincide with cognitive decline. These findings underscored the importance of both measures for early detection of T2DM-related brain changes.
