Keywords: Small Animals, Aging
Motivation: The synergistic effects of hypertension and aging on brain morphology is described and the evolution patterns of cerebral atrophy from spatial and temporal perspectives using Rat stroke model.
Goal(s): Using non-invasive MRI techniques, we have investigated changes in the brain of 18-month-old spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) rats following a 30-minute transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) or SHAM for 8 weeks.
Approach: Using multi-parametric MRI data to access the treatment efficacy
Results: Our results demonstrate that treatment of stroke with Angiotensin type 2 receptor (AT2R) agonist reduced lesion volume compare to non-treated group.
Impact: The C21-treatement improve outcome.
