Motivation: Multiple scan packages to increase the fat suppression effect of STIR pulse causes misalignment between slices due to the different respiration state in each package, resulting in images lacking tissues clarity.
Goal(s): Demonstrate the feasibility of the modified DWIBS with a combination of broadband STIR pulse and SSGR in terms of improving the image quality of 1-package scanning in whole-body DWI.
Approach: Visually evaluated-package DWIBS using STIR, 2-package DWIBS using STIR, and 1-package DWIBS using STIR in combination with SSGR and broadband technique (modified DWIBS).
Results: Modified DWIBS enables 1-package scan, which reduces the zebra artifacts and sufficient fat suppression superior.
Impact: Our study demonstrated that the modified DWIBS with a combination of broadband STIR pulse and SSGR significantly improved image quality, especially for improving the fat suppression and reducing the zebra artifacts, even at the 1.5T clinical system.
