The clinical manifestation and preliminary mechanism exploration of cognitive-motor interference in Parkinson's disease

Motivation: Motor dysfunctions in Parkinson's disease (PD) significantly affecting personal independence, the regulation of which requires the cooperation of motor and cognition.

Goal(s): We aimed to explore probable regulatory basis of cognitive influence on PD motor.

Approach: In this study, clinical motor quantitative data and MRI imaging data of 485 subjects were collected.

Results: We found that education provokes a positive effect for PD motor during early parkinsonian period. The cognitive-motor interference in PD was modulated by not only dopaminergic nigra, but cerebellar lobule and basal forebrain. Furthermore, we found the mechanism of cognitive-motor interference was differed in subjects with different disease conditions.
