Motivation: Accurate magnetic field calculations are critical for imaging techniques like QSM and EPT. Eddy currents generated by gradient switching may introduce inaccuracies, potentially affecting these measurements.
Goal(s): This study aims to explore the existence and characteristics of eddy currents generated by gradient switching in multi-echo GRE sequences
Approach: A series of multi-echo GRE scans were performed on spherical water phantoms with varying experimental conditions to evaluate their influence on the eddy currents.
Results: A non-harmonic field component generated by eddy currents from gradient switching was observed in the phase maps of spherical phantoms in multi-echo GRE.
Impact: These findings demonstrate the impact of eddy currents generated in multi-echo GRE by gradient switching on phase images, necessitating further investigation into their effects in vivo.
