Motivation: Laser films, though traditional for MRI image display, are expensive, necessitating more affordable alternatives.
Goal(s): To evaluate the affordability and opinions across physicians and radiographers on the use of glossy paper & QR codes as alternative methods to laser films for MRI images.
Approach: A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect feedback on various media and cost data for the three options calculated based on 1,000 patients.
Results: QR codes are 8 times cheaper than laser films, glossy paper costs half as much. Physicians and radiographers equally prefer laser film & QR codes, each at 38% & 40% respectively. 23% physicians, 20% radiographers prefer glossy paper.
Impact: This study finds that QR codes and glossy paper are cost-effective and reliable for image transmission and that there is a willingness to accept the aforementioned alternative media.
