Synopsis

Motivation: Our aim was to create a more efficient method in the process of clearing patients with active, and other, implants.

Goal(s): Our goal was to create a method where all individuals in the implant clearance process could review the information and at what point in the clearance process the patient was at.

Approach: We mapped out our current state clearance process along with stakeholders, and in collaboration with our senior database administrator created an electronic tool.

Results: The tool was created for the first workflow: Cardiac implanted electronic devices and successfully captures the workflow and improves efficiency.

Impact: The tool creates a method for ensuring that patients are not delayed in their implant review, thereby ensuring that MRI exams are performed in a more timely manner.
