Synopsis

Motivation: This review compares the sustainability of open MRI machines and higher-field systems. It finds open MRIs more energy-efficient and patient-friendly, while higher-field systems offer better efficiency and diagnostic quality.

Goal(s): The research evaluates energy consumption and operational efficiencies, considering the machine’s lifespan and provides insights for sustainable MRI technology.

Approach: The study will analyse peer-reviewed data to compare the two MRI types, identify best practices, and recommend sustainable strategies.

Results: It will highlight best practices and future research directions for sustainable imaging.

Impact: The research stresses the need for informed decision-making in MRI technology selection to improve patient outcomes and promote environmentally responsible practices.
